HISTORY
Kujawy
A
historical Polish region, situated between the River Noteć, lake Gopło and
the River Vistula. The first mention about Cuiavia appeared in Gnieźnieńska
Bulla in 1332. Cuiavia is
a cradle of Polish state created by Władysław
Łokietek who took part in one of the most important battles in Polish
history, namely in Płowce. (the village 6 km far from Osięciny)On behalf of
Władysław Łokietek, Cuiavia was once ruled by Przecław from Osięciny.
Needles to say, Osięciny played an important role in the creation of Polish
state. The region was taken over by
Knights of the Cross
but in 1343 Cuiavia was regained. As a result of numerous partitions
of Cuiavia lands, and after the Second World War, Cuiavia became a part of
Bydgoszcz province, and later to Włocławek’s province.
For this and many other reasons we are really proud of the history of our region.
The history of our town and the commune are worth further studying too. It is very absorbing. Osięciny gained civic rights in 1823. Then in 1841 Józef Skarbek became the owner of the town.
